Policy and campaigns

A key part of our work at WAVE is to communicate our message of primary prevention and work with policy-makers, practitioners and communities to improve the lives of children and families. 

Our current main areas of work are:

Implementing primary prevention in local areas

Educating and building support amongst national policy-makers

  • Supporting MPs, Ministers and civil servants by making policy recommendations and by running the 5 Nations ACE workshop
  • Secretariat and advisor to All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Prevention of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • Secretariat and advisor to the Cross Party Group (CPG) in Holyrood for the Prevention and Healing of ACEs
  • Implementing primary prevention in Scotland

70/30 Campaign to reduce child maltreatment by 70% by 2030

  • Training and supporting 70/30 Ambassadors to build a momentum for prevention in their local areas (goal- to reduce ACEs and child maltreatment by at least 70% by the year 2030)
  • Building partnerships across the whole of the UK
  • Working to create more trauma informed communities in the UK

N.B. ACEs are Adverse Childhood Experiences such as child abuse, child neglect, parental mental health problems, domestic violence
